Spring + Mary

Port Moody has worked to transition its main thoroughfare, St. John's Street, into a vibrant pedestrian street-scape. Using the typology of the six-storey mixed use form with commercial ground floor, Spring and Mary contributes to the commercial stock and density of the area. By using a courtyard cut through the rectangular form, the building achieves the highest density on the site possible, and does not sacrifice access to natural light and ventilation into units. This strategy gives this architectural courtyard and rooftop amenity spaces to act as a social centre for the building's community.


The dynamic and vibrant facade of the building is broken up by coloured boxes. The ground level is differentiated by a wood aesthetic, matched in the soffits of the overhangs on the top level, bringing the aesthetic of the building together.


Spring + Mary is a contextually based, contemporary addition to the Port Moody cityscape.
