School Road Apartments

School Road Apartments is a 17-unit apartment development located on a primary arterial road in Gibsons, BC, a former fishing town on the Sunshine Coast, 50 km Northwest of Vancouver. The design language of the building references the town’s nautical past: the 3 sloping roof lines evoke the movement of waves, and a circular “porthole” window is a focal point on the street-facing facade. The sloping rooflines - a typical feature in West Coast architecture - break up the building into 3 distinct sections, and create generous interior spaces on the upper level.

The contemporary building form is clad in a humble material palette of stone, earth tone panels and exposed warm wood members and siding, ensuring that it fits in with its context. Deep half-punched balconies maximize outdoor living space, and take advantage of the panoramic views of the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
