Grant Daycare

Located in a residential neighbourhood, the Grant Daycare adds much-needed daycare services into its context. The design of the building playfully inflects the styles of neighbouring homes to stand out as a daycare. The facade uses natural wood as a base material, and floats a white shingle gable above. The front uses large glass to expose the interior staircase, and signal the entrance. The entire design uses subtle cut-away forms to accentuate the windows, and sawtooth forms in plan to bring natural light into the classrooms.

The Grant Daycare is an exemplar of quality daycare design which is needed in the Metro-Vancouver area: using natural materials inside and out, ensuring that the building fits into its context, and serves its community.
