Corlett Condos

Only accessible by ferry, Gibsons is the Gateway to BC's famous Sunshine Coast. The town is arranged down a steep slope, the historic Lower-Gibsons is a remnant of the fishing industry, now a thriving neighbourhood, and above is the industrial sector of Upper-Gibsons. Our site stands between the two, thus our design is a hybrid of form and material between industrial and residential.


We used the form of the pitched roof to break up the massing as it went deeper into the site. By cladding the full upper storey in industrial corrugated metal siding, the massing of the building seems reduced. The siting of the building gives space for personal front decks and planting areas for all units, as well as leaving space for ground and upper level secluded amenity spaces.


Compared to the neighbouring 3-Storey building, Corlett reached a unit-density much higher through strategic thinking. This is further detailed in our Corlett Case Study
